Many states are developing integrated Medicare and Medicaid programs to serve dual eligible populations that are inclusive of PACE. For the first time, PACE programs across the country may face significant competition by alternative integrated programs. Given the intensity of this development, it is critically important for PACE programs to understand the size of the PACE eligible population relative to the total dual eligible population and plan their growth in a strategic manner.

Day Two of the HDG National Summit Underway

Today, the Summit began with a breakfast with sponsors, a warm welcome from Craig Abbott, CEO of Health Dimensions Group (HDG) and a keynote presentation by Kathleen Griffin, National Director of Post Acute and Senior Services at HDG. Her presentation included information about the acute and post-acute continuum, and how to drive success in a post-reform world.

The day continued with refreshments and a break with the event sponsors, followed by a presentation by Neal Peyser, Senior Vice President of Consulting at HDG.  The afternoon included a panel session about Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). This discussion was led by Preston Gee, Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Marketing at Trinity Health, Terry Carroll, Senior Vice President for Transformation and CIO of Fairview Health Services, and John DiCola, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Catholic Health Initiatives. Then the participants were provided an option to learn about one of several topics over a “lunch and learn” session, followed by an afternoon and evening of activities and dinner.
