Health Dimensions Group (HDG), one of the nation’s leading senior living management and health care consulting firms, has assumed management of the Ely- Bloomenson Nursing Home (EBNH). On Thursday, March 17, Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital (EBCH) entered into an agreement with Health Dimensions Group to manage the Ely-Bloomenson Nursing Home.
Operation of the nursing home will be separated from EBCH. The nursing home will transition to a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation and be renamed Boundary Waters Care Center (BWCC). The separation of BWCC from the hospital will improve the financial viability of both organizations and allow BWCC to remain an essential component of Ely’s support for area seniors.
Boundary Waters Care Center is a 58-bed skilled nursing facility providing short-term rehabilitation services and long-term care. Patti Banks will remain in her current role as the facility’s administrator.
“We have greatly appreciated the enthusiastic support from the board of directors during this transition process,” said HDG Regional Director of Operations Mark Pederson. “We’re delighted and honored to be a part of the Ely-Bloomenson family, and we look forward to serving the Northland with the highest level of care, programs, and services.”
“Working together, we will make this transition a successful one and the community will continue to receive the high levels of services that they have come to expect from EBCH,” said John Fossum, CEO of EBCH.
“HDG is committed to the residents of Ely and the surrounding communities for the long-term,” said Craig Abbott, CEO of Health Dimensions Group. “We’re driven to make Boundary Waters Care Center an even better facility and a viable place in the community to live and work, now and in the future.”
